ARE YOU READY TO STOMP IT OUT?!
Who is Stomp it Out for?
Here is how it works
After teaching children the meaning of each large feeling mat, set any number of the mats in a circle around the room. The children should stand in the center of the circle.
You read targeted situation cards (Social Issues, Responsibility & Limits, Changes & Transitions including COVID19, Positive Situations, & Academic Challenges) and your kids get to MOVE in fun ways (stomp, hop, twirl, army crawl, crab walk) to the appropriate mat that depicts how they would feel in the situation described. Fun and engaging movements remove the vulnerability behind responding to the scenarios provided.
The kids will learn to control their body (while having FUN), build emotional language and vocabulary, identify and connect their emotions to their experiences, and to take the perspective of others. This is social emotional learning at work.
When ready, kids return to the center of the circle and learn to collaboratively problem solve through each situation.
